Duncan Craske was born in 1917 at Barton upon Irwell, Lancashire.
His parents were Arthur Craske b.1885 Glemsford, Suffolk, and Bertha Sinar b.1884 Leigh, Lancashire, who married in 1905 at Coventry, Warwickshire.
His paternal grandparents were George Craske b.1855 at Stanstead, Suffolk, and Joanna Maria Brown, who married at Sudbury, Suffolk in 1876.
He married Marjorie Stobart at Northumberland West, Northumberland in 1940.
They had one child:
He was a Sergeant in the Glider Pilot Regiment (number 1785652) during the Second World War.
He died on 14 July 1943, the date of Operation Fustian in Sicily, in which the 1st parachute Brigade were taken into battle on nineteen gliders.
He is buried at Salerno War Cemetery, Italy
