Biography

John Budding was born in Dursley, Gloucestershire, in 1865, and his parents were Ann Maria Budding (nee Underwood) born at Bridgwater, Somerset in 1844, and John Budding born at Dursley, Gloucestershire in 1841, who got married at Dover, Gloucestershire in 1869.

His maternal grandparents were George William Underwood, born at Atworth, Wiltshire in 1819 and Maria Underwood (nee Lane), born in 1823, who got married in Glocester in 1840.

The Census Enumerator has obviously got confused in the above census and gave the wife of John Budding the same name as his daughter 'Eliza Kate' instead of his wife's real name of 'Ann Maria'. The age and location of birth for his wife are correct but the name is wrong.
