Lily Rose Riddick was born in Gloucestershire in 1893.
Her parents were Rosa Matilda Underwood born at Dursley, Gloucestershire, on 26 Nov 1859 and John Edwin Riddick born at West Knoyle, Somerset in 1861 who married at Dursley, Gloucestershire in 1892.
Her maternal grandparents were George William Underwood born at Atworth, Wiltshire in 1819, and Matilda Curtis, born at Bath, Somerset, in 1835, who married at Dursley in 1851 after the death of George’s first wife in 1850.
Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Riddick, born at West Knoyle about 1829 and Ann Riddick (nee ?) born at West Knoyle about 1827.
Her father died in 1900 and at the time of the 1901 UK Census she was living as a 7 year old border at the home of Arthur George Bennett and his wife at Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire.
In 1906, after the death of his wife, her mother married the widower Arthur George Bennett at Swindon, Wiltshire and her mother is listed as living with her second husband at Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire at the 1911 Census.
