Matilda Curtis, 1831–1873 (aged 42 years)
- Name
- Matilda /Curtis/
Note | BiographyMatilda Curtis was baptised at Dursley Parish Church on 25 December 1831. Her Father was William Curtis, born at Wick, Gloucestershire in 1821. Her mother was called Elizabeth. Elizabeth died in the early 1830's. In 1838 William Curtis married Sarah Owen, who became Matilda's step-mother. Matilda Curtis and George Underwood married at Dursley Parish Church on 9 March 1851, and the Bans of Marriage describe them both as residents of the parish. The Parish Marriage Register give Matilda Curtis' father as William Curtis, and the witnesses in the Register are William Curtis and Sarah Curtis. Sarah Curtis was Matilda Curtis' step-mother. They had eleven children:
At the 1851 census she was living with her husband in Dursley with her husband's two surviving children from his first marriage, William George Underwood b.1841, and Ann Maria Underwood b.1844. Matilda Curtis is subsequently listed as living together with her husband and children in the same place in the 1861 and 1871 census. Matilda Curtis died in Dursley in 1873.
